For over 3 decades the non-profit, Remote Area Medical (RAM), has brought healthcare services to those in need using their unique mobile "pop-up" clinic model. In 2022, a group of Ashland volunteers applied to RAM, asking to bring one of their mobile medical clinics to the Ashland/Framingham area. The application was approved and we are now proud to announce that a free health clinic will be held at Keefe Regional Technical School, at 750 Winter Street, Framingham on August 12 - 13, 2023.
Partnering with local community host groups (CHGs), RAM provides free medical, dental, and vision services on a first come first served basis during weekend clinics. This collaborative model requires significant community investment, with local volunteers working alongside the RAM's team to organize and host the clinic. This "shared responsibility" model helps to provide immediate care while also connecting patients to valuable resources within their own community. We are in the process of connecting with organizations such as yours to ensure this local clinic is leveraged as a great resource in our region later this year. To make this effort a success, we are looking to members of the community for help in 3 important ways. Spread the word: As we look to recruit volunteers and let patients know about the clinic, we are looking to members of the community to help us get the word out. A targeted flyer is attached. We ask you to share the information in this letter with all the contacts in your mailing lists, and post the flyer wherever it will spread the word out, and help us make the RAM Framingham clinic a huge success. Volunteers: To be successful, pop-up clinics require local professional (e.g. dentists, optometrists, doctors, nurses, dental hygienists) and general volunteers. For general volunteers, no special skills are required, just time and energy. Information about how to volunteer can be found at: https://www.ramusa.org/volunteer-with-us/ Follow up care: We are working to contact and network with existing community organizations and hospitals in Metrowest to seek and ensure follow up care and resources are available for our patrons. Working together with RAM, our clinic will augment existing local resources by providing valuable health services to those in need. In the process, we will build a stronger and more resilient community. To learn more about RAM, please visit: https://www.ramuse.org
