Breaking the Fast in Community: An Iftar for All
Sunday, March 17, 6-8 pm in Edwards Hall,
39 Edwards Street, Framingham
The Multi-Faith Collaborative of Open Spirit and the Ahlulbayt School for
Knowledge invite you to join in a joyous and sacred Iftar community meal. During
the season of Ramadan, our Muslim friends and siblings fast during daylight
hours and gather to break the fast at sunset.
On Sunday, March 17, we will gather as a multi-faith community to honor the
traditions of those of us from the Muslim faith. We are grateful for our three guest
speakers. Dr. Sadik Kassim, a Scientist specializing in Gene Therapy for
Cancer, is interim chaplain of the Taha Collective, a non-profit organization
established to serve the Muslim-American and spiritually-curious community of
the Boston metropolitan area. Imam Zubair is the spiritual leader of Masjid-E-
Basheer (Islamic Society of Framingham). Dr. Layli Maparyan, a Wellesley
College professor, will reflect on her experience of fasting as a member of the
Baha’i community.
Following their reflections, we will pray together, and we will share in a fast-
breaking meal.
Please bring a favorite vegetarian dish to share. We invite you to make a
donation to support our programming. We suggest $20—more if you can; less if
you can’t! (If you are fasting during Ramadan, please come as our guests—no
need to bring food or make a donation).
We ask you to register so we may plan accordingly
